We know that music is universal – it is part of every culture in even the smallest crevices of the world. The Blues is the essence of pain, joy, suffering, and innermost feelings of people like you and me. The Blues is such a deep part of American culture because of people like Robert Johnson, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Slim Harpo, Memphis Minnie, Jimmy Reed, Little Walter, Muddy Waters and so many others. Especially those whose names never became famous, they were the roots of The Blues. They were the true teachers to those who went out to perform and share with the world this part of our country's growth. This site is dedicated to all those people, and the people of today and tomorrow who are in touch with the heart of this music. Whether you perform professionally or just love to float away in the depths of some of the great sounds of those who do perform, you are among those who appreciate the Blues and you have been given one of most beautiful gifts from God that you will ever receive. Eric Clapton once said... Love and music is all you need. Preserved in photography – the people and performances
If any artists wish to have a live performance photographed, please contact us through this website at IamtheBlues@portraitsinblues.com
I have had the opportunity to attend a considerable amount of concerts in the Chicago area and whenever possible, I try to photograph these shows and post those photos to this site.
