The beginning of The Fabulous Thunderbirds goes back to 1974, but the roots are deeper yet. Some of the great artists like Muddy Waters, Slim Harpo,  Little Walter, Bobby “Blue” Bland, B.B. King just to name a few, shaped and inspired Kim Wilson, who co-founded the band with Jimmy Vaughan. Although Jimmy Vaughan does not play with the band now, Kim Wilson (harmonica and vocals) still plays with all the integrity and originality that The Fabulous Thunderbirds started with.

There have been numerous great artists that have risen through the ranks and have contributed to the band’s classic sounds that we hear today. Although these artists have moved on to other interests, the members that have made the grade to be in The Fabulous Thunderbirds now, are truly great in their own rights. In addition to Kim Wilson, Johnny Moeller (guitar), Mike Keller (guitar), Jay Moeller (drums), and Randy Bermudes (bass) are the sounds of the current Fabulous Thunderbirds show at the Star Plaza on 3/27/2010, and they were spectacular!

We can’t help but think that every time these Fabulous Thunderbirds perform, all the previous members must feel a profound sense of emotion and pride, knowing that they are part of the history of the awesome T-Birds of today.
