The Tedeschi Trucks Band 08/25/2011

The Chicago Theater

This was a show that pleased everyone…whether you are a fan of Derek Trucks or Susan Tedeschi, this was more than a “two for one”.  The Tedeschi-Trucks Band melded the talents of Susan Tedeschi, Derek Trucks, and their band which included Oteil Burbridge (Bass Guitar), Kofi Burbridge (Keyboards and Flute), Tyler Greenwell (Drums and Percussion), J.J. Johnson (Drums and Percussion), Mike Mattison ( Harmony Vocals), Mark Rivers (Harmony Vocals), Kebbi Williams (Saxophone), Maurice Brown (Trumpet), and Saunders Sermons (Trombone).

One of the tunes that they renewed was the memorable “Let Me Take You Higher” (Sly and the Family Stone) which sounded absolutely great.  The show was a mixture of music that they have done in the past, and music that they did for their newest CD “Revelator”.

It was certainly inspiring to see Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks communicate together on this tour, because their two distinct sounds blended together in perfect accord, and the band members cemented it all together for one fascinating show.
